Il Sentiero del cratere di Fondo d’Oglio e Montagnone

Dal piazzale del “Rotaro” nel Comune di Casamicciola, il nostro percorso avrà inizio tra fumarole

ancora attive, antichi crateri e duomi lavici che hanno caratterizzato la storia geologica dell’isola
d’Ischia. Percorrendo il sentiero di Fondo d’Oglio giungeremo all’interno di un antico cratere
vulcanico estinto, dove nel centro è cresciuto un Carpino nero, considerato “fatato” per via delle
numerose leggende che lo riguardano. Tra piante di mirto, alberi di pino e numerose specie di
ginestre giungeremo nella zona del Montagnone, da dove ammireremo una vista da cartolina
sul porto d’Ischia, la terraferma e l’isola di Procida. Durante quest’escursione faremo una
degustazione di prodotti tipici presso la “Cantina del Sargente”.

From the square of ”Rotaro” in the municipality of Casamicciola, our journey will begin amidst still active
fumaroles, ancient craters, and lava domes that have characterized the geological history of the island of Ischia.
Following the Fondo d’Oglio trail, we will reach the interior of an ancient extinct volcanic crater where a black
Hornbeam has grown at its center, considered ”enchanted” due to the numerous legends surrounding it. Among
myrtle plants, pine trees, and numerous species of broom, we will arrive in the Montagnone area, from where
we will admire a postcard-worthy view of the port of Ischia, the mainland, and the island of Procida.
During this hike, we will have a tasting of typical products at the ”Sargente Winery.”
